We only have HP printers but check this link from IBM regarding Canon:

Did you create a new device for the Cannon?

If all you did was disconnect the HP and connect the Cannon you will get garbage.

If you do the following and post the configuration someone may be able to help with the problem.
Change PRTXYZ to the printer device name on both commands.

RTVCFGSRC CFGD(PRTXYZ) CFGTYPE(*DEVD) SRCFILE(QGPL/QCLSRC) RTVOPT(*OBJ)

To display the configuraion you can do the following:

DSPPFM FILE(QGPL/QCLSRC) MBR(PRTXYZ)

You may have to window over to column 13 to see the complete device description (type W13 on Control line)

Thanks everybody for your help.
It turned out that the printer consider everything coming from an AS/400 (iseries) to be Letter size format instead of A4 as we normally use in Europe. By setting the top (first) paper tray to Letter (even if it contains A4 size paper) we got it to work.

Best Regards/Stefan
