 Problem when printing from AS400 (iSeries) to Canon imageRUNNER Advance C5255
AS/400 Canon C5255

Hello everyone.  We have just installed a new Canon copier.  I created the Device Description and followed the IBM specifications for MFRTYPDMDL using *HPCOLORLJ.  My spooled reports keep going into pending status and I'm getting an error message stating that "an error was detected on the device.Look at the printer to determine the cause of the problem."  The printer shows no errors.  I'm thinking I have problems with my Device Description.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To send spooled reports from the AS400 to the Canon iR C5200 series of copiers you must use *H5SI for the Manufacturer Type and Model and designate *IBMSNMPDRV as the System Driver Program.  On the copier under TCP/IP Settings, LPD Print Settings and RAW Print Settings must both be set to ON.   It took me days to figure this sucker out so I'm adding this solution.  You can also reference this web site.  It provided me with the solution.  http://isgsp.net.tripod.com/html/os/ibm/as400.html

Where are the IBM specs located? I don’t see the C5255 listed under the supported Canon printers.

Tom, the closest I could get was Canon Color ImageRUNNER Advance iR-C5000 Series.  I used *HPCOLORLJ for MFRTYPMDL and *HPJLDRV for the System Driver Program.  The tech from Canon said to referenence C5051 which also fall under the C5000 Series.
