My question is just a procedure problem. I had received a video attachment and my computer said I needed RealPlayer & Quicktime to open. I had both programs downloaded in my control panel, but neither would open the videos. I tried a re-download & the 'run' question but it never came up...just asked if I want to 'save', therefore it's saved as binary, so how do I get that changed so I can run what I saved? Thanks.

...but neither would open the videos.   Why not? What happened? How did you try to get them to open it? Was there an error? If so, what was it? How were you told that those programs would process the file?   We need more information to know what to suggest. At the moment, we don't even know what you are really trying to process. For all we know, you just installed a virus on your PC.   Tom

Sounds like you're dealing with a corrupt video file.
