OVRPRTF
This is in an iseries 400 environment. I am using an Ovrprtf in an Qrpglesrc pgm. Another programmer originally set this up: OVRPRTF FILE(SHPADVPT ) FRONTOVL(DMSPRDOBJ/SHPADV) DEVTYPE(*AFPDS) HOLD(*NO ) SECURE(*YES) COPIES(2) OUTQ(PTSHPADV1 ) When the pgm runs, the print file resides in my spoolfile at a RDY status but it does not print unless I change the OUTQ in the spoolfile (CHGSPLFA) to the printer name I want to print it to. The Printer dev is set to *OUTQ. The printers that I am attempting to print to are: a HP LaserJet 4250 and a SHARP AR-P450. Is it possible that this is a hardware issue or is the OvrPrtF causing problems with the *afpds? The Printers names are: PFLCSHIP(hp) & PMLC050(sharp). Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you very much!!

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I forgot to ask my question: How do I get this to print without changing the outq? Why won’t it print the way it is set up? Thank you.

    From the original post:
    OVRPRTF FILE(SHPADVPT ) FRONTOVL(DMSPRDOBJ/SHPADV) DEVTYPE(*AFPDS)
    HOLD(*NO ) SECURE(*YES) COPIES(2) OUTQ(PTSHPADV1 )
The override print file is sending the spool file to the PTSHPADV1 out queue and not to the designated printer out queue. If the program in question is prompting the user for a printer to use then you should use the field defined for the printer (assuming the printer name and the associated outq name are the same) for the override instead of PTSHPADV1.

If the OVRPRTF in the same RPG program that populates the print file, it should be designated as USROPN on the F spec and an open command must be issued after the OVRPRTF. Phil
