First thing to check is the Location document being used…..
If it is office and the server stated is not correct and the location is wrong then the MAIL Icon on the left hand side will not work….this is the same if you are on Internet of island and the DB is not there.
The other thing that this might be… the Bookmark could be corrupt.

On the Notes Client go to the WORKSPACE. Delete or remove the bookmark for the DB (remove the all bookmarks for this DB). Compact the workspace.
RIGHT CLICK – WORKSPACE PROPERTIES – COMPACT
Go back into the DB via file DB > OPEN. This should fix it,
if not then rebuild Bookmarks
On the Notes Client PC.
1: Close Lotus Notes
2: Go to the Client Data directory and rename BOOKMARKS.nsf to BOOKMARKS.old (or anything realy)
3: Start Lotus Notes – this will recreate a fresh BOOKMARKS.nsf
