We have an instructor who manages his own email server so he wants his mail forwarded to his doamin.
We just migrated to exchange 2003 from 5.5. The 5.5 server is still in place.
Since the migration forwarding has been broken. Our email admin worked on it for several days and I have tried in her absence.
Today we tried doing a redirect from the outlook client, from the web client interface, and from within exchange. In order to minimize variables I logged in as the customer to make the client based changes and pointed to my gmail account. The symptoms were fairly consistent with all of the client mods. Emails kept piling up in the inbox withour getting forwarded. When I tried it from the server I created a contact and forwarded the user to it. Now the emails seem to drop into a black hole. In addition, I can no longer mail to my gmail account from within the college. The bounce messages come from System Administrator with an Undeliverable: XXX subject. The thing I find intriguing is the mta is the old 5.5 server The actual line is: MSEXCH:MSExchangeMTA:HERE:LAVERNE.
My best guess is that the old server is breaking us. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
