Problem Creating Outlook Email from Lotus Notes

I have a user who was just received a new computer running Outlook 2003 and Notes Domino 5.01. Several of the Notes applications have functionality which creates an outlook email with an .ndl link attachment. This was working on his previous computer, but now he gets an error message "unable to open file". The error message goes away when he is given administrative rights to his computer, but it is our company's policy not to permit that. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I am also facing a typical problem similar to this. My organisation has a Messasing system. Using IE 6.0 I can log into my account. But if I configure it on my Outlook Express it is not accepting my ID or Password. Firstday it worked without any problem. But now it is not working. I have tried configuring in other computers in the network. None of them is allowing my password. POP is rejecting Me. Can somebody help me out???

This is a stab in the dark, but is it possible that you haven't assigned the file type to Outlook? In other words, when you look at a .bmp file, there are any number of different programs that can open it, and Windows assigns it to its Imaging program by default, but if you install Photoshop, Photoshop will ask if you want it to be the default viewer for the file. If Windows doesn't know what to do with the file, then it will say it can't open it. Depending on which version you're using, from your Start Menu --> Control Panel --> Folder Options, and click the File Types tab. See if .ndl is on the list.

It sounds to me like the NDL file type is not defined for the user's profile but is defined for the Administrator profile. Your desktop people should investigate how the NDL file type is defined for the Administrator profile and apply it to this user's profile. This should resolve your problem.

Thanx to all. My problem was resolved. Outlook does not support very long username. Hence in the web messaging it was working but not in OE. After shortening my user name it is working in both the platform
