 Problems after installing fresh copy of Windows XP

Hello, I have installed a fresh copy of windows xp and in my Notification area the Network Location Awareness says that theres limited or No connectivity, when i installed my sound card Driver, all audio sounds very slow, like Louis Armstrong singing in Slooooooooow Motion. i un-installed the drivers & re-installed them, i re-installed the OS 3 times an it still had the same issue, i installed the same OS on my laptop and it works fine Please help me out, your assistance is much appreciated, as i have never come across an issue such as this. Thanks

What are the specifications of the PC that is behaving so slowly? processor speed? memory? Hard drive space etc?

Did you check your ManageDevice Manager after you installed your OS? This will tell you by a yellow exclamation point whether or not you have the correct drivers installed.
Sounds like this could be the problem.

Also, something most people forget to do when re-installing a operating system and that is to delete the MBR (Master Boot Record) from the hard drive. Many times this is or can be become currupt easily.
If you have a floppy or cd that you can boot to, with WIN98 or DOS you can delete that record and install fresh.

If what you are saying is that you’ve used the same source disk to install WinXP on two different systems (and I won’t even get in to the possible legal issues here!!!!), and that it works OK on one system but not OK on a different system, ask the classical troubleshooting question, “What Changed?” or “What’s Different”. Because the difference is (of course) the hardware, the answer lies in the hardware or the drivers.

Are you running SP3? SP3 has issues with certain network chipsets (Intel 2200BG is a good example). Have you grabbed and installed the latest device drivers for the network card and sound card from the system or component manufacturer’s website? If so, try going to a previous release.

If WinXP SP3 is installed as a separate item (i.e.: the SP is NOT slipstreamed into your installation disk), try to uninstall it and see if that helps…
