Problem with shortcut error messages

I was moving folders around in my documents when something I did erased or moved some of my folders. The documents were Excel spreadsheets with formulas. I ran a search and a couple of them came up but when I click on them, I get the error message: Problem with shortcut the item " " that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this short cut will no longer work properly. I can't find the folder that all of these documents were in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you aren’t finding your documents running a basic search, you may have to change your search options. Even if you have accidentally deleted them, you should be finding them in your recycle bin – but if you have accidentally dragged them somewhere not found in a basic search….such as hidden files & folders or system folders, it may not be showing up. You can widen your search parameters by selecting “More Advanced Options” in your search settings. Good luck!

The search results you get are probably shortcuts for recently used documents, but the real documents do not exist any more, or at least not in the location where they were before, and that's why you get that error message. Have you looked for the documents in the recycle bin ?
