In Oracle RDBMS you can use ROLEs to control access.
Grant specific privileges to each role.
Grant one or more roles to each user.
Think of a ROLE as a “group of privilges”.
Then add/remove people to these roles.
This is easier than giving each individual user the required authorizations.
CREATE ROLE call_taker;
GRANT some_auth, another_auth TO call_taker;
CREATE ROLE shipping_clerk;
GRANT an_auth, some_other_auth TO shipping CLERK;
GRANT call_taker TO sally; – sally is one of the call takers
GRANT call_taker TO beth; – beth is another call taker
GRANT shipping_clerk TO bill; – bill was hired to work in the shipping department.
Hope this helps.
