 Printer Question
I am just wondering if it is possible to connect to a network printer without having to install local drivers. We have an XP machine attached to a printer. I also have two other machines in the house, one with vista and one with osx. I want to connect to the xp machine with the printer attached to it and use that machines drivers to print. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

Answer Wiki:
I have Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X machines sharing a printer on my small home network. I've had a shared printer hooked to each of these machines at one time or another. I eventually connected the printer to my wireless router and let each local machine choose it's own drivers and I've not had any problems from not installing the OEM drivers. If you're using a wireless router, you may wish to connect your printer to the router instead of a client computer.

You probably cannot share the printer out and get the OSX system to utilize with the default printer drivers loaded. You MIGHT be able to get away with it if you can use PostScript drivers, but no guarantees…

Your best bet, as stated above, would be to hang the printer off your router/switch/hub…
