 Printer Alerts
Can you be selective to which printer alerts will stop the writer? We have added new Multi-Function Products to our network. When they reach a low toner condition it sends back an alert to the AS400 and the writer stops sending print jobs to them. This is only a low toner not out condition. Looking for a way to stop the AS400 form seeing these type of alerts. Can you be selective when setting printer alerts on the as400. Version V5r3 iSeries. Thank you for any suggestions

What is the message ID you receive for this? You may be able to setup a reply with ADDRPYLE to monitor for the message for the printer and respond accordingly. You can view the replies currently setup with WRKRPYLE command.

If the printer rejects the attempt to write to it, it’s not only pointless to force the writer to keep writing, it’s essentially certain that everything the writer sends to the printer after that message would be lost.

If that message is accurate, then any changes need to be made to the printer itself.
