Power Point 2000
Hello all, I have a bit of a challenge for you guys :-)
I am having a problem with a computer that runs Windows XP, with Office 2000, when the users tries to use Power point it works ok, but when she attemps to insert a Chart she gets the option to double click on the middle of the chart that gets installed to actually change the chart, but when she double clicks on that nothing happens.
The only way that she can achieve this is by going to the Menu and selection Insert--> Organizational Chart for example. if she just double clicks on the slide where is says to double click to enter chart, nothing happens.
Hope this is not to confusing, I think that I confused myself, if you have any questions or need some clarification please let me know.

I have the same setup at work, XP pro with office 2000. I tried the above and it worked fine for me. It seems that there might be something in powerpoint that is corrupted? have you tried doing a repair on office 2000? if so you might have to reinstall patches when done. let us know.

I don’t know of a way to turn off the double click functionality with in powerpoint, is it possible this user has messed (excuse me… “adjusted”)
the double click speed in control panel? Do they have the feature of windows where they hover over an icon and click once to open the file or program?.
Buddy, thanks I did not think about updating Office, I repaired it and nothing, removed it all together and reinstall it, and there was no change after that.
I will try to update it see if that makes a difference.
I will post back and let you know if that works, the user will be back in the office next Thursday so it will take some time for me to post back.

another idea, try logging in as another user and see if it happens. if not then something in the original user’s profile is corrupt. you would need to rename her profile directory, (username.old, etc.), then have them log back in. When they log back in it will create another new profile directory. The reason for renaming is that if that does not fix the problem then you can log them off, delete the new profile directory and then rename the old one back so that they don’t lose any settings.
also, if you removed and reinstalled did you delete the C:\program files\Microsoft Office directory after you uninstalled and BEFORE you reinstalled. The office uninstall does not remove this directory and whatever is corrupt could still be in it.
Thanks Buddy, I don’t really want to create a new profile, it would me a pain to get all her settings back to how she had them, but I have to say I did not delete the MS Office directory, I will give that a shot and see what that does for me.
