 Postfix configuration
Hello All, Please I need help urgently. The client systems on my network cannot connect to the postfix mail server on my mandrake 9.2 linux server. When i do mailq it comes upwith this error "connect to 127.0.0.1(connection refused). I guess it could be at a result of misconfiguration. It pulls mails from the internet server quite alright but cannot distribute to client systems. Please assist what should the config be? thanks. Tosin

I'm puzzled as to why you sent both me and the group messages - I wonder how many other direct messages you sent. Aside from that though.... What does your main.cf file look like? When the postfix daemon is running, do a netstat -a and see if anything is listening on port 110 (POP3), unless you're running IMAP, which is 143 by default. Are all host defintions in the main.cf file fully qualified? Do a "which mailq" command in a terminal window to make sure that you're picking up the postfix mailq command, and not the older Sendmail version. The mailq command in Postfix is meant for compatability with older Sendmail users and scripts. The native Postfix command is "postqueue -p" Send us a copy of your main.cf file with the real values (that might compromise your security) changed to sample values, but of similar quality. Also - Please reply to the group, not to me personally. Bob

Sorry to bail on you TosinO, but I am OUT of time.

Bottom line is that you have not completely configured the variables in your main.cf file – fully qualified domain and host name among others.

Go visit http://www.postfix.org and look at the documentation and How-To sections.

Hope that helps – Back on Monday,

Bob
