Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Do you want a single installation on your pc, or will you be rolling out this sap gui to a number of users?? You can use an application that ships with the sap gui called SAPADMIN which simplfies the future patching process.

There are hardware and software restrictions with the installation of SAP 4.7... Not recommended for your desktop unless you are learning(your desktop will need a minimum of 512meg pref 1G) .. The installation guides are posted on sapnet. You will need a license key or you won't be able to do much so I hope you have access.

As usual, there is not enough information in the question to answer the question. Besides, all the information you would need to install an SAP application on any system may be found in SAP Service Marketplace - http://service.sap.com (if you have an S-ID). If you do not have an S-ID for Service Marketplace, you might still be able to find enough information to do an install, depending on what install media (CD/DVD) you have available. You might have access to the installation guide (a PDF file) and online documentation, which is duplicated at http://help.sap.com. If you do succeed in getting a system installed, you will only have 30 days to use the system on the temporary license granted during the install, unless you have authorization to request a license in Service Marketplace for a particular customer number and installation number (which would have to match the product you are installing). Installing an SAP system is fairly simple, as long as you have made all the preparations, in advance, as specified by the installation guide and the OSS notes specified by the guide. If you don't make those preparations, the installation can be nearly impossible to complete. Preparation for an install is about 80% of the job, before you even start sapinst... Since you didn't specify your reason for installing an SAP system on your PC, I don't know if this will help... You can get a "Mini Basis" system by buying a book that contains the software. There are several out there, I think. Try searching SAP Press for books on ABAP. It is only a Basis system, though, there is no application logic or data in the system. They are intended for use as a demonstration, and a system for learning ABAP. Regards, David
