Plant assignment change options

Hello, We're in the middle of a project where we are supposed to move a plant from one company code to another. For business reasons a plant defined for company code A which is in country C1 will have to be movedto/owned by company code B which is in country C2. Both countries are in the EU but have diferent local curriencies. Does anybody have any experience with such a move? Possibilities we explored were: creating new plant for comp code B or simply delinlking the plant from comp code A and linking it to comp code B but there are unknows with such a move. I'd appreciate sharing experience reading plant reassignment in the above described or similar conditions. Best Regards, Darek

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

As the two plants are in different countries, I’m uncertain as to whether one can just delink and relink the plant – particlularly if there are already Purchase Orders and stock attached to the plant.
My suggestion would be to create a new plant and then migrate any stock, PO’s, Sales orders, etc. from the old plant to the new plant – that would ensure that the data integrity stays intact.

Thank you for the suggestion. We have just made a decision to actually go that way (conservatively crate a new plant) and discarded other options as too risky.

If the following settings are in place then Plant De-assigning from one Company Code and Re-assigning to another Company Code can be done.
    1) There is zero Inventory Holding
    2) No open Purchase Order
