Hi! I have windows vista and photoshop CS3 extended. It was working fine before but nowadays while working it gets stuck and takes minutes to resume. Or else I will have to close it using task manager. Does anyone know what the problem is?

What is its memory and CPU utilisation? I have heard of memory leaks with Photoshop on vista…

Is its memory usage constantly growing or cpu 100%?

When i cheked with task manager…CPU usage is bouncin between 1-21% and mem is 48%

May be an application conflict. Did you install anything recently. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop. Reinstalling your OS will ultimately fix things otherwise your looking at a hardware issue.

I’m not sure if my advice will solve your problem, but anyways…
I read that during installation of photoshop it is important to disable your anti-spy, anti-virus and other anti-stuff software. Otherwise photoshop can create problems after the installation. So my advice to you is to uninstall photoshop, disable anti-virus software and try to install it again.

This is not necessary to uninstall / disable anti-virus. You have to uninstall unnecessary software / photoshop plugins. Earlier, I used photoshop and installed several plugins, and PS worked slow. Uninstall the unnecessary plugins and PS worked fine.

Check out the CPU and memory stats with task manager. You should run a virus scan, MWAV by e-Scan works great and it's free. Are you running another applications at the same time or have a browser open? all these things are fighting for the same system resources.

This is a 7-year old question, and with so few details provided by the OP, it was most likely not possible to provide an accurate answer.

However, the above suggestions are applicable regardless of the specific program that is running slow and the operating system version.
