I need to be able to take a file sitting on my IFS and PGP encrypt it before sending it out to my partner. Is this capability native? Do i need to purchase a third party package?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Hi,

There is no ‘native’ PGP implementation on the iSeries that I know of. If you don’t want to purchase a package, your best bet is to get an AIX binary that you can run in the PASE environment. IBM has an “as is” implementation on alphaWorks that’s free. Here’s the URL:

Try and look at Alliance FTP Manager with PGP option, cost a bunch but it does the trick

Using GoAnywhere Director from Linoma Software, you can automate the whole process in a CL or in a scheduler - select the file(s), encrypt it and FTP the file to the trading partner or reverse the process where you connect up to their server, retrieve it, decrypt it, place it on the IFS and even import the file into a database. You can learn more about the encryption options available in GoAnywhere Director here: http://www.goanywheremft.com/products/director/encryption
