 Performance and Resource Consuming Monitors SQL Server 2008 R2
Are there any specific GUI tools available to monitor the performance and resource consuming process? At present we are using third party tool to do so (Spot light)?

Yes. With the new Multi-server management capabilities (enhancements to Management Studio) there is a new Utility Control Point (UCP) where you can enroll and manage multiple instances. The Explorer Dashboard provides overall utilization for the instances and you can drill down to get the specifics (CPU, Storage, etc.)

But it is no SERIOUS match for the capabilities of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise. Graphically and “tell at a glance” it is way beyond anything MS has deigned to offer. I was a VERY happy user of Spotlight for 5 years and found it the best in class, despite it lacking some of the (utterly distracting from the task of seeing a problem area at a glance) eye candy that SQL Sentry offers up. Just my 2-cents…
