Our shop is planning an upgrade from an IBM 2096-T03 Z/os machine to a 2096-R04. As far as I am aware, so far only the prerequsite PTF's have been applied. We have noticed an average of 25% increase in our IDMS transaction times since the PTF's have been installed. Has anyone gone through a similar upgrade and noticed any issues with performance in their applications?

I haven’t worked with mainframes for over 25 years, but nobody else seems to have specific comments.
Does IBM say the difference might be expected?
First, T03 to R04 wouldn’t seem to be a highly significant “upgrade” from looking at specs. It seems that the added processor is why any increase in power would come. But you don’t have that processor yet.
If the PTFs alter anything, it might be in how work would be split between four processors instead of three. But #4 isn’t available yet. Perhaps work is simply being delayed in a fashion similar to the loss of one out of four processors.
I know that’s a pretty random thought. IBM will be a much better source for an explanation if any are known.
