PDF files arrive as win.dat files
PDF attachments, Exchange Server, Exchange errors
When our company emails paystubs to employees' personal accounts, the .pdf file arrives as a win.dat file.  We've searched for this type of problem and tried the suggested fixes (change mail settings to plain text), but that does not work. A couple of the recipients use AOL.

One of the employees who use AOL had it sent to her work address and then forwarded to her AOL account and was able to open it then, but we are trying to avoid the extra steps.

The issue is that the MIME being sent is encapsulating the attachment. This is why when forwarded (mime is redone on the second send) it works because it is encrypting it again. What SMTP server does the sending software use?

It is our SBS Window Server 2003 that we have here onsite.
