Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I dont think it’s possible.

Even under QSECOFR we cannot see what a user has set their password to.

We always have to reassing a new on when they forget it.

IBM has a command that will do what you need plus gives you serveral options. This is the first paragraph from help text for ANZDFTPWD. "The Analyze Default Passwords (ANZDFTPWD) command allows you to print a report of all the user profiles on the system that have a default password and to take an action against the profiles. A profile has a default password when the profile's password matches the user profile name."

The ANZDFTPWD command is appropriate. It can be run from a command line or a CL program. It can also be accessed through the GO SECTOOLS menu, option 1, "Analyze default passwords". The command can print the list. When it runs, the command will build the list in the QASECPWD file in QUSRSYS. You can then query that file to do whatever actions you choose if you don't want the printed list from the command. Other options on the SECTOOLS menu should also be reviewed. Tom

While ANZDFTPWD helps, I need a faster response per user profile. It's for an application where our help desk resets passwords for users who have forgotten their passwords. I need to show them if the current password is already equal to the profile name, which wil then force the user to change his/her password.

I need to show them if the current password is already equal to the profile name, which wil then force the user to change his/her password. While it can be possible to create such programming, I can't share it with you. Besides, it doesn't make much sense. There is no reason to determine if the profile has a default password for your application. Just set the profile to the default, expire the password and enable the profile. The user will be forced to change the password automatically. Tom
