Is this a windows login during startup? Is this a network login? IS this a personal or a work computer? Is this a new computer or an old one?. If you did not install anything new recently and you were prompted to change a password and it no longer works I suspect malware. You can try and possibly boot to a previous good version of your OS. To do this, when powering on press and hold F8 and then select that boot option. You might also have to load form an old restore point.... Give us a few more details and it may help us give you a simpler solution.

There is not enough information given in the question.  As one of the ones that has been burned by this issue I need a little more information.  In a way, I had the same issue when someone at Microsoft gave someone access to my account without my permission and they promptly changed my password.  Once the password is changed and without phone support there is no way to regain control of the account.  That being said, I would suspect you got a bogus request to change your password.  The request may have been generated through malware / virus on your device with a keylogger running to track and send the keystrokes to another location.  The infected machine then changed your Microsoft password to something else effectively taking you out of the system.  Here is a phone number that you can try with this 1-800-386-5550.  It is a Microsoft Support number for accounts.
