 Partitioning an external hard drive.
I have just bought a new 500gb external hard drive to back up all my files before having the internal hard drives looked at as one of the is overheating and cutting out all the time. How do I pertition the new external hard drive so that I have two drives, one of say 100gb and the other 400gb?

You can try this <a href="http://partitionlogic.org.uk/">program</a> which is freeware, or you can try <a href="http://www.partition-magic.org">Partition Magic</a> which is what I've used with great success, though it costs a bit. However, it is not actually advisable to partition an external hard disk drive into 100 gigabytes and 400 gigabytes. Disk partition is best when there are equal storage space between partitioned drives or it is better to create just a single partition since it is an external hard disk.
