Hello, as a quicker/cheaper method than adding another tower/expansion unit I'm looking at swapping out 4 pair of mirrored 70GB drives for 140GB drives and leaving the remaining 11 pair at 70GB. Should I expect to see any significant change in performance on a partitioned i550 under V5R4 or V5R3?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You will need to be aware that you might see a slight decrease in performance once you’ve filled up the 140 GB drives compared to how your system runs today.

Honestly I’ve done the same thing on a few systems and the performance hasn’t been a problem.

Your IBM business partner will way their hands in the air and say it’s bad because they want to sell you the expansion unit.

Unless you’re doing heavy transaction loads or (so I’ve heard) running JDE World you can expect a hit.
Good luck!
