RSYNC hangs without reason

It sounds like that “one small file” that it is busy with is the problem. You stated if you “kill all processes” then it runs fine. I would try ending all processes beforehand. Sounds like there you may be having an object lock issue. Just curious as to what other jobs may be getting the CPU resources when this happens or is it just a total drop off due to this one small file?

How will Facebook Home affect BYOD policies?

What BYOD policies? :)

Facebook Home is just another application of mobile computing. If you focus on securing the devices and the data, everything else will fall in place. The problem I see the most is people failing to get started. Here are 10 reasons to move forward on this:
http://searchwinit.techtarget.com/tip/Top-10-reasons-why-you-shouldnt-ignore-mobile-device-security

The challenges are only going to become more complex.

What are your goals when it comes to cloud services?

How about:

1) Get our cloud service providers to drop the SSAE-16-in-the-face nonsense and demonstrate how secure their systems really are through meaningful *technical* security assessments.

2) Determine and document the additional security controls we have in place to keep our business running and information secure when the you know what hits the fan.

3) Convince our lawyers and management that IT and security staff need to be involved in the decision-making processes surrounding contracts and SLAs.

Does your IT department use various social communication tools?

I haven’t seen social media used in this manner with my clients but suspect it could be useful as long as employees aren’t sharing private information in the public domain.

PDCA with conflicting laws

If you’re an international company, you’re going to have to comply with the laws specific to the region(s) in which you’re operating. By all means get your lawyer involved.

How to unzip a downloaded file

I use 7zip to extract files, i can handle lot of things. But with a standard .rar or .zip windows can extract it by using the right click-menu and extract all. After that you can burn it with a normal cd burner

Creating physical files

QDDSSRC is the name IBM uses for physical source files that contain DDS source members. (It’s usually not a “library”, but you could create a library with that name. It wouldn’t be a good name to use.)
.
If you are using PDM and you are “in” QDDSSRC, it would mean that you are in a list of members in QDDSSRC. Pressing F6 would create a new member, not a new file.
.
You can use PDM to create a PF, but it simply causes PDM to bring up a list of commands that begin with CRT^. You still have to choose CRTPF from the list and use it.
.

CPYF

Although a LF doesn’t contain data, it will reference dat in the PF. The CPYF command will copy data from the PF, but it will format data according to the LF definition.
.
The data will be copied even though it’s not contained inside the LF. A LF is just like a SQL VIEW. It doesn’t contain, but it does define the access to the data.

CPYF

Hi anup,

Please note LF will never contain any data. So even if you use CPYF command here, it will not copy any data from LF1 to PF2, Since LF1 dosen’t contain any data of PF1. It will only have a view to PF1.

PDCA with conflicting laws

Generally, federal always takes precedence over state, which takes precedence over local, except where local or state is more restrictive. An organization would handle conflicts by following whatever law applies.

An organization would usually use the above ‘rule of thumb’ guideline of precedence unless specific rulings had been previously issued. It is always a court ruling that eventually determines what is right. This is the same way essentially all laws are followed.
.
And when in doubt, ask organization lawyers. I’d expect most organizations that achieve ISO 27001 certification have one available.
.
Tom
