QTMMSNDM without RPG

Yes, the API can be called from COBOL or CL or even REXX. Any HLL can call just about any API. — Tom

Regarding iSeries journaling

What is meant by “copy”? Since journals don’t contain useful data, what exactly would be copied?
.
Journal receivers can contain data such as copies of database transactions, but journals contain lists of receivers and of objects that are associated with the journals. By ‘copying’ a journal, there would be two journals that both have the same receivers associated. The system will reject any requests to ‘copy’ a journal.
.
So, what is the need for making a ‘copy’ rather than simply creating a journal with the same name?
.
Tom

You should be able to call an API with any programming language.

How can be check OS version in AS/400

If you do not have access to any of the commands suggested, you can check a program compile listing. It’s on line 1 position 10-15.

What are your thoughts on killer applications?

You’re right. I certainly wouldn’t want to be in charge of the “next great app” because of the fluidity. I do know that those of us in IT and information security must stay current on these issues if we’re going to keep these apps (and the information they process and store) in check.

Ahh, the life of an IT professional….Wait, squirrel!

Regarding iSeries journaling

What is the problem you are trying to solve?
If we knew that we would be better able to assist you.
For example, you could have the same file journaled to multiple plave,.
you could dump the journals to a DB file into a different library.

Lotus notes view and schedule agent related

I am planning to use db.search method to find out the docs and use them instead of  documents from view which has selection formula like this:

SELECT Form = “form name” & txt_Status=”xyz” & @Date(@TextToTime(“Today”))>@Date(datel1)

Keyboard not detected

Only thing I’ve seen work IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES, where nothing else seems to work, is to unplug and replug the keyboard. I’m not at all sure exactly what point you’re at in the install, but the USB detection can pick up the “new hardware” and activate the keyboard if you’re lucky. It depends on what’s actually active in the system. — Tom

JDE with Robot/Schedule

I wish I could give something useful, but there’s seldom a good way to work around something that’s internal to a product (without access to source code). If upgrades are available that handle the problem, or if the problem can be fixed by patching the upgraded version, you might be in a tough spot. H/S Support (like everyone) will be focused on current releases. — Tom
