Wireless connection should be fast but it is very slow
I usually use “iperf” for bandwidth measurements. You can use wireshark to see if you are getting a lot retransmits. do you have the latest drivers for your wireless interface on your laptop?

Setting up automated monitoring on AS/400
We use a product called MessengerPlus from Byteware to monitor the system for messages. I’m not sure how it would work for your EDI application.
