Creating a chart for alphabetic data and date ranges

Can you share the format or example of the data – assuming you meant it for the date field.

Related to mobile comm.

The idea to use any shape for mobile communication basically came from the need to divide an area of land into some regular shape in order to pass on mobile communication signals. The need was to have such cell shapes that would
1. Completely cover the land
2. No overlapping – as that may cause interference in signals
3. No gaps – as that may cause the signals to drop.
4. Lastly- Maximum area coverage in one cell.
Square, triangle, circle and hexagon – all qualify as regular shapes. Circle gives the maximum area coverage but there could be gaps or overlapping. Squares, equilateral triangles and hexagons are perfect for covering without gaps or overlaps.
However, compared to a circle of same dimensions (diameter of inscribed circles of each shape, kept same as the diameter of the circle), the next best coverage are as follows:
The area of a hexagon to a circle approx = 83%
The area of a square to a circle approx = 63.7%
The area of an equilateral triangle to a circle approx = 17.77%

Thus, Hexagon is the shape that meets most of the requirements and hence the best choice for mobile communication. Hope that helps.

New Software: Are new features or changed features harder to adapt to?

Even if the new features are really good, you take time to get adjusted to it unless they are super fun to use and super easy. But if the features are confusing, unwanted and hence irritating then it makes life more difficult. Biggest Fits for me in recent history : Gmail – Unwanted labels that just wont go – namely – Social, Promotions, Updates.

Vulnerabilities increase in security products

“Twenty years ago you did not hear as much…”: Much of that is because regulations did not require the same degree of disclosure. Disclosures are required in many more instances today. Companies simply would have kept it quiet in the not too distant past. — Tom

What is causing the slowdown in the storage sector?

I’ll paraphrase a quote I saw on the Internet a number of years ago (attributed to user ID “qnetiq”, IIRC): “You’ll contract out the care of your office plants; but you’ll do security yourself…?”
.
IMO, it’s a thought always worth pondering. Most individual companies can survive security breaches, though costs can be high. A cloud service provider (CSP) that suffers a breach will find a huge long-term cost in reputation. The CSP needs not only to reassure customers but also must protect its own business.
.
Most data stored in the cloud probably should not contain sensitive information anyway. E.g., an order file that contains customer ID numbers is far less sensitive than one that contains customer names, addresses and phone numbers. It’s probably more secure to keep identification data on a separate platform.
.

Vulnerabilities increase in security products

I think most companies are falling behind in the response to update their products.
It’s amazing how some companies post 2-3 updates a week where others may do one or two a month. It would be hard to validate the test results as it could be a time sensitive issue between product updates. It may also be due a lot more attempts at exploiting software glitches as more and more people are becoming tech savvy. Twenty years ago you did not hear as much about stolen data, cyber attacks and the like. More people seem to be making this a career choice as the payoff can outweigh the risk.

How can I convert large file to PDF?

You should be able to convert large files to PDF. Try it and get back to us with some more info like …

How many pages are being converted?
Do they contain images?
Where are you getting an error, on the convert or trying to view the PDF?
If viewing what are you using to view file a PC, smart phone or other device?
What is the amount of memory on the device?

Vulnerabilities increase in security products

Is it possible that with all the news on data breaches and hacks being done that more people are seeing these weaknesses and trying to hack sites them selves. Some people see it as an easy way to make money. Just imagine if you has the skills you could by a cheap laptop for this sole purpose, go to a place that offers free Wi-Fi and you would be pretty hard to trace. You would not leave any personal info behind. The other issue is how quick, to a verified attack, do these companies put out an update of their product?

What is causing the slowdown in the storage sector?

I’m still new to “the cloud” concept. I understand the principles and possible benefits. We all know local storage has gotten dirt cheap. You can get a 3TB external drive for pc’s for about $175 US. I might use the cloud for some auxiliary or duplicate back-up storage but I would not use it for sensitive data. Has anyone had any experience with a data breach or hack using cloud storage? Security would be my biggest concern.

Update from another table and multiple criteria

As far as I can tell, the error messages do not refer to that SQL UPDATE statement. More of the code is needed. The SQL that you showed does not have any clear relationship to “PCT”. There is nothing that we can tell from the small pieces you have shown.
.
How are you running the statement?
