Answer Wiki:
What other information is provided on the BSoD? What is happening when this BSoD comes up? ======================================================= The 0x000000ED error can mean a variety of things. What is the error title? In other words, does the BSOD state STOP: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME followed by the error code 0x000000ED? If so, you might want to look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297185 This may be caused by an incompatible cable if the boot device is an IDE type drive: replace 40 strand cables with the correct 80 strand cables, and/or inspect the cable(s) for damage (especially sharp bends, kinks or abrasions in the insulation). Does it state STOP: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_DEVICE followed by the error code 0x000000ED **AND** you are booting from a one or two port SATA add in card? If this is the case, move the card from one PCI slot to another (or swap places with another expansion card if you have no free slots).
