Very good info there Robert, cheers. As I noticed something very peculiar the other day when i looked under search options for the staff member that is having the issue. What i saw was, was that items were being indexed in data file of an ex employee, she also used to have full mailbox rights to the ex employee also.

I'll give the various things you've mentioned a go tomorrow and let you know how I go.

Many Thanks

I have had problems searching in Outlook and this sounds very similar to the problem I had. My problem was a com add in, at one point the users were using lookout search plugin and then Microsoft came out with their own search tool, not exactly sure of the name (I think it was called Windows Desktop Search) , but it got installed with a service pack or update and it was embedded with no way of knowing it was being downloaded. It broke lookout and then my endusers could not open any docs with the new search tool. Look in Add or Remove for anything related to searching and try to remove it. It was a pain I also had to reinstall Office and then reinstall Lookout and reindex everything. Leave it to MS to buy lookout a perfectly good search tool and then take it off the market. It worked fast and perfect WDS is slow. Hope this helps you out.

Try opening outlook in safemode. If the problem does not occur then it is definitely an add on causing the problem.
To open in safe mode close outlook, go to start, click "run" and type outlook /safe in the run line.
You can also go to start, all programs, navigate to outlook, hold down the control key and click on the outlook program, you will get a prompt asking you if you want to start in safe mode.

I too am having this issue, however I don't believe the issue to be with too many staff members having full access rights to the mailbox.

Here's what I have tried so far;

1. New Outlook 2003 Profile.
2. Uninstall and re-install of Office 2003 Pro.
3. New Windows Profile.
4. New computer, with Office 2007 and Windows Vista.

I'm starting to think this might be due to an add-in that is installed within Outlook. I believe this because the problem didn't re-occur for 6 months after the staff member received her new computer, so I'm thinking just recently she may have installed an i-tunes plugin and this may be causing the problem. I'm going to uninstall this plugin and see how I go from there. However if you or anyone else having this issue could please comment as to whether or not they have an i-tunes add-in installed it would be much appreciated.

This issue is really starting to bug me.

Cheers

That might be the fix if I find that the problem is because too many people have access. At least that is what I think the problem is. I am going to remove rights for all but the boss and one other and then add one at a time until it breaks
