Answer Wiki:
Do a search for .pst files and incude hidden folders. unless you had your pst file on a network drive it should be there on your pc.

Are your other files in the proper place (i.e. My Documents, My Pictures, etc)? If not, it sounds like you are having a problem with your profile.

Usually a restart will fix this issue.

Yes all files (My Docs, My Pics etc) are in right place, the things missing are on Outlook itself….my emails/ folders / contacts / diary appointments

hi, thanks, i tried this before and it wasnt theree, only the new file. i tried the SCANPST on this file and there was nothing underneith, so it wasnt an overwrite. it seems like the file was never there or was in a completely different place which i cant find.

i have looked on outlook backup files and old emails and people contacts updates are logged there, but i dont know where the full personal profile is…

Am at a loss as to what to do next….

If it is not located on your computer anywhere than it was either deleted or somehow moved. If your computer data is not being backed up then you are out of luck. If it is being backed up you will need to request a restore.

The usual location (unless on a network drive) is C:Docs and SettingsLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook. Make sure that you can view hidden files and folders.

Path on Vista/Windows 7 is c:usersusernameappdatalocalmicrosoftoutlook.

There is a freeware app called Recuva (from Piriform) that does a great job of finding files shy something heavyduty. You could try it to see if you accidentally deleted it.
