Outlook Mobile Service server

OMS (Outlook Mobile Service), Outlook, SMS, IIS, Mobile

Greetings,

Does an Outlook Mobile Service server have to run on Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS)?

For example, my university has a short code for text messages and the current server that handles the web service for OMS run on IIS. Is it possible for the OMS server to run anything other than IIS (ex. Tomcat Axis 2 with Java)?

Thanks.
