We are running Exchange 2007 and yesterday I updated all email accounts with a new primary SMTP address. I am unable to see the new email addresses in my Outlook 2007 which is running in cached mode. However, I can see them when I take it off cached mode. I have tried the "download address book" under send/receive, but I still don't see the new email address. Any idea as to why this will not update?

Actually I found the answer. When we migrated to exchange 2007 I had originally left the default address book in place which was homed on a public folder database in exchange 2003 and did not also have web-based distribution on the exchange 2007 CAS servers. I created a new address book, homed on an exchange 2007 public folder database with the web-based distribution, but I did not update the mail stores to refer to the new address book. So I just changed all the mail stores to refer to the exchange 2007 address book and re-started my outlook, then I told it to download the address book again. This time it took longer and voila, all the new SMTP addresses were listed! weee!

I see the same issue in our Exchange 2007 environment, however we started with 2007 so it's not related to the 2003 public folders in our case. Most of our users are still on Outlook 2003 and they are the ones having issues with cached mode. We do have both public folder and web-based distribution configured. I just added another update time interval to the custom schedule, but I don't know that will change much for the cached clients.
