 Outlook 98 Problem
When a user is done composing an email from outlook 98 and sends it out he still has the composed email showing that it is open on his task bar, but when he tries to click on the box on the task bar it wont pop up. When he right clicks the email on the task bar and clicks restore it shows a blank email. When he hits the x box in the top right corner it disappears but the email goes out and everything else is ok. Has any one else experienced this problem? Thanks

Answer Wiki:
Dear I don't think that this problem has something to do with outlook. You need to scan your OS for virus. Possibly Run SFC that should solve your problem .

I’ve never used Outlook 98, so I don’t have a specific solution. But we’ve seen lots of relatively small errors like this in Office applications, and they are sometimes difficult/impossible to pinpoint. If you can’t find a solution online, we are usually pretty quick to uninstall Office and re-install it. If that doesn’t work, re-image the drive. The other thing that clears up Office issues 99% of the time: upgrade and move on.

I did a repair install for the user and that still failed. We are in the process of doing upgrades for all of our users, but that takes time and I was looking for a fix until we are completely upgraded. I have lots of users get dr.watson errors with there outlook as well, I even tried some patches for office but that never seems to work. Thanks

Instead of uninstalling outlook 98, Try just rebuilding the user profile within Outlook 98. Many times this has solved issue for our users. Or you can log onto another PC and open Outlook from there if it works it could be the Outlokk profile or the users profile with in Windows.

We have similiar experienced something like this once with Outlook, so what we did was to uninstall office and re-install. Once installed, we tried again and seem to fix the problem. However, we have seen lots of relatively small errors like this in Office applications, and they are sometimes difficult/impossible to pinpoint. If that does not work, re-format the drive. Maybe is time for upgrading to new office product.
