Outlook 2003 has started to malfunction for mysterious reasons. The "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder" is checked, but sent items are stored in the Sent Message folder only momentarily before disappearing forever. I've tried reinstalling Outlook but it doesn't fix the problem. Any other ideas?
Software/Hardware used:

It could be a rule.
Have you verified that no rule is causing it ?
No, it’s not a rule. No rules have been set up.
Do you have Only Show unread mail ticked?
I don’t seen a Only Show Unread option.
I think I found the problem but don’t know how to fix it — there’s no datafile associated with my IMAP email account. I’m using Outlook Connector for Hotmail. How can I set up a datafile?
thank you. yes, I did. the auto archive setting does not appear to be the problem. In fact, not all of the settings seem to work. This seems to be a malfunction.
Is this computer in a business with Exchange? The Archive settings can be disabled with Group Policy. This would disable the use of .pst files.
Thanks for your thought, but the Sent emails are not being archived, and they’re not going into the Deleted folder either; they are simply disappearing after about 5 minutes.
I would try repairing your office installation. If repair does not work, delete and re-create the profile. If that does not work uninstall and reinstall Office. Is this a pop3 or MAPI connection?
