Hi, There seems to be no way that I can see to avoid a copy of an email going into Sent Items, having set up a Rule under 'Start from a blank rule', 'Check messages after sending', 'move a COPY to the specified folder' - is there a way around this ie just to MOVE? Lots of duplicates otherwise! Thanks so much.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Unfortunately other than manually moving them, no. This is not a “problem” of Outlook, it is a “feature”!

You could achieve that by disabling the “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder” option.

Create the rule to move a copy of the messages, then go to “tools”->”options”-“preferences”->”e-mail options” and uncheck the “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder” checkbox. Click Ok, and Ok.

This should do the trick but, if the rule fails or gets disabled for any reason, you won’t save any copy of sent mails.

Carlos, how can I separate out just the additional email account? I have 3 email accounts in outlook and I am trying to seprate them into three different folders to manage incoming and outgoing emails. When I set up the new folders and rules to point incoming emails to a specific folder there was not problem. Outgoing emails seem to get grouped in the sent folder, not the subsequent "sent" folders i set up for each email address. I created a rule for each but it only allows "copies" instead of moving the sent message to the specified account. I set up the preferences like you posted but now it wont save any sent mails at all. Is there a way to set up my 3 email accounts for incoing and outgoing folders?
