Running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP. When downloading email (Send / Receive) it not only takes forever, but the entire computer freezes up. Other computers running Outlook at this office are working fine so it can't be the ISP. Already tried deleting any large files, scanning the entire system, updating, and compacting as well. Looking for ideas.

Outlook 2003, Windows XP

The only cause which I see here is the large sized PST file. To reduce the size of file you can do following : -Split PST file into smaller or multiple files -Compact PST file to optimize the free space -Archive the Old items or mails -Delete the unnecessary items from your mailbox However, each method have their own merits and demerits so you should select the method as per your need. Here is a blog which you can check to know about these practices : http://www.outlook-troubleshooting-tips.blogspot.com/ Hope this will help. Regards Mariapeter
