I have user using Outlook 2003 operating in Windows XP part of an Exchange. Her last name is spelled incorrectly. I made all changes in user profiles in exchange. E-mails display correctly. Only thing I cannot change is her display name that only she sees when she opens outlook (Mailbox - Ashley XXXXX - Outlook Today) I cannot figure out how to change this. Thanks!

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Have you tried to delete her profile on the computer and recreate it? That should grab the correct information.

Outlook has a lot of arguments - in all senses of the term - but here I speak about the command-line switches. I think if you use the /resetfoldernames or /firstrun it should work. let me know!

Hiya I am guessing it is a local network domain you administer. The display name cannot be changed locally as the information (display name) is kept within user account on the server. Simply go to Server Management / Users and change the display name in the properties. Yuo are certainly not the first to do this

We've had this issue in the past. Another place that may help resolve this is in Active Directory Users & Computers open the user. If you've already corrected the name on the General tab next to Display Name and on the E-mail Addresses tab under x400 then go to the Exchange Advanced tab try entering a "Simple display name".

Check make sure her alias name is also changed. You'll find it in the Exchange General Tab of her user account properties in AD.

Hello, Just a note, name changes in AD can take 12-24 hours before they will be seen. This is due to the time required for AD to complete all replication cycles. If your user's Outlook is configured to use 'cached mode' you may have to force a reload of the new GAL for the change to be seen. Good luck!

Hello, The name seen in the Outlook client (Outlook today) is embedded in the local or raoming profile of the user. Delete and recreate the user profile for the fastest way to solve this. As soon as you can see in the GAL (addressbook check) that the email address is correct, AD has replicated and Exchange has updated the GAL. From this point on, look for a local solution, not an AD related one.
