 Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2007
I currently have Office 2000 running under Windows XP.

I plan to buy a new pc with Windows 7 and Office 2007.

Will the new version of Outlook read my existing Outlook 2000 .pst file?

This file has reached 2Gb and is causing a problem in Outlook 2000.

Some blogs say I will need to import the .pst file and others say you must not do this. Can I just copy the existing file into the Outlook 2007 folder and go?

Will the other programs (Word, Excel, etc) read the old 2000 version files OK?

Answer Wiki:
if your files are from office 2000, it has no problem reading in office 2007 as for your pst, maybe you can try to clear some of your unwanted mails and compress it. if it is possible then archive it too.. anyway if i am not wrong all .pst can only hold till 2gb..to be able to import/export you will need to know where you .pst sits here C:Documents and SettingsYOUR USER IDLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook

The 2GB limit no longer applies with Outlook 2007. Outlook pst files moved to unicode format with outlook 2003 and this limit is no longer true with the unicode format.
