 OS400-V5R4-Extended Base Support Failed
Hi all, I just like to ask if there's any other way to resolve this problem..We restored our entire system backup from an as400 V5R1 machine to a V5R4 transition box. All the data and license programs was restored successfully. Then we purchased a new machine (as400 V5R4 also). We then created an entire system backup from the transition box(V5R4), and restored the entire system backup to our new machine which is in V5R4 also. But now, we encountered a problem in one of the license program. The Extended Base Support (5722SS1 option 1) is in *error status and we need to resolve it. We already tried the reclaim storage (RCLSTG) command and install 5722SS1 Option 1 again, but it still failed. Hope you can help us solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Let me make sure I understand what you did. You overlayed an existing V5R4 installation with your V5R1 system backup tape? What command(s) did you use to do this?

I agree that it seems highly questionable about retoring a V5R1 system (“entire system backup”) to a V5R4 system. That has the potential of being the fundamental source of the problem. It’s like restoring a complete Windows 2000 C: drive backup to a PC that had Windows Vista installed — unpredictable results.

Even managing to restore “license programs” alone is a highly questionable feat. Most likely none of them should even have been attempted.
