os390 to apple xserve file loses one byte

when transfering files from the os390 to an apple xserve the file comes up short one byte, same file from os390 to windows or linux works great. how do I fix this?

    OS/390 ? You mean z/OS, formerly called OS/390 and even older MVS? What you using to move the file? I would assume it is some setting on the receiving end that is losing one byte. One byte per file? per record? from the front? back? middle?
