When my company intended to use biometric system I am lucky to a part of that.
The hardware is basically that a "Controller" which has a fixed static IP address which is connect a lan cable to the server computer. And the computer also has a fixed IP address. The connection is made thru vb and sql server for template of employees name etc. Another database oracle 10g is used for web server for viewing their status. This is the scenario. The controller is supplied by a vendor called "SMART" and they r the responsible for all of that.
Hope it helps u !

If you live outside the United States, by submitting your email address you consent to having your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States.
Thanks.
I mean oracle9i database, how can it be connected/link to biometric scanner?
What are the requirements (software & hardware)? and what benefit does it have?
“how can it be connected/link to biometric scanner?”
The answer to that question will depend on the specific scanner being used and the applications involved. The Oracle database server listens on port 1521 by default, and some kind of client software needs to be running on the client side.
I have never used biometric scanners, so I cannot help with hardware requirements or suggestions. Let’s hope some other memeber can help in this regard.
As for the benefits, it is not clear whether are talking about the benefits of using an Oracle database, or the benefits of using some specific scanner, or the benefits of using biometric technology, or something else.
What Oracle product are you referring to ?
From the database point of view, there is not much difference if the information being stored comes from a biometric system or something else.
Can you provide more details ?
Thanks.
