Oracle Installation Error


Java, Oracle, Solaris 10, Oracle error messages

I am getting error “The Java RunTime Environment was not found at bin/jre” while trying to install Oracle 8.1.7. on Solaris 10.

All system and error details are given below:

$ uname -a

SunOS nike 5.10 Generic_118833-17 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise

$ id

uid=65535(oracle) gid=300(dba)

$ which java

/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.5.0/bin/java

$ java -version

java version "1.5.0_06"

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)

Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode)

$ echo $PATH

/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.5.0/bin:/usr/bin:

$ echo $CLASSPATH

/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.5.0/

$ echo $JAVA_HOME

/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.5.0/

$ echo $JRE_HOME

/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.5.0/

$ ls

runInstaller

$ ./runInstaller

The Java RunTime Environment was not found at bin/jre. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run.

Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.1.7 or higher and try again.

: No such file or directory

$
