Oracle Forms 10g – Form sometimes retrieves data, sometimes retrieves nothing with same query

I have run into a problem with 2 Oracle forms I have "adopted".  When a user hits the next block button to execute the query based on their criteria, the forms will sometimes return data and sometimes will clear out every text field on the screen (it isn't deleting or removing the text elements... just blanking them all out).
What would be the cause and fix for this?  I have noticed that this can be reliably reproduced if the user toggles between the form window and some other window and the query completes its execution before they return to the form window.  Since this isn't a problem with our other forms, I know there must be a fix.

Have you reviewed the code of all form-level triggers (when-form-navigate,when-form-activate,when-form-deactivate and others) ?

I found a couple of strange looking function calls within a few block-level triggers. I will play around with these and see if they resolve it.
