How I can get oracle database experience without joining any firm or institution. Would anybody comment please?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You could start downloading the free version of the database and start playing with it. You could also download a non-free version for testing purposes only (download Oracle 11g Release 1 here).

But, this experience will not be equivalent to the one you get when working on a day to day basis in networked multi-user environments where many different problems could arise and security and performance become crucial.

I'm a newbie software developer with some experience with SQL Server 2008: designing and modeling database, writing SQL queries, stored procedures. But I'm more interested in working towards Oracle DB administration because of its wide market and opportunities, although I haven't had any practical experience working in Oracle DB. As an initial step in that direction, I have passed an Oracle SQL Expert exam, and am planning to take the rest two Admin 1 and 2 exams of the OCP track. My related question is: Without having any on-the-job experience in Oracle databases, what are my immediate career prospects if I happen to pass all these certification exams. How do I kickstart my career in this direction?

You could look for a job as database developer on an organization using Oracle. After gaining some Oracle experience you could try to move to a dba (at least junior) position. You could also look for a non-profit organization needing help on this area, and offer your services as a volunteer.
