I have an ORACLE_HOME installation /opt/oracle/9.2.0.4 and will upgrade this to 9.2.0.6 using the appropriate patchset. First running the Installer and then the sql scripts to update my database. When complete how do I change my ORACLE_HOME to reflect the new version e.g. 9.2.0.6 and what are the implications if any ?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The 9.2.0.6 installation is probably not a complete software distribution so you must install it in an existing Oracle9i release 2 (9.2.0.4) installation. In future, try to use more generic directory names like c:oracleora81 or c:oracleora92 to reflect the major release level. When there are multiple oracle homes, you can use the Home Selector on the server to set your Oracle Home.

Modify the oratab entry for this database to reflect the new home name. Any shell scripts you have written in which the ORACLE_HOME is hard coded will need to be modified.
