Q:
Oracle 9i Server and XP Pro
I have installed Oracle Server 9i on a Windows XP machine. It works well when connected to from the same machine.

It is not possible to connect to from another machine (Win 2000)using Client 7i or Client 9i or Client 9i, as though the listener wouldn't work.

Is there any known issue with 9i Server and XP Pro ?

Is there any workraround ?

Have you checked your WinXP Firewall Settings?
Try to disable it and check again.

First try to ping the machine that has Oracle… Do you have a fixed IP? What does your TNSNAMES look like?
XP has a fire wall. I agree with the previous answer try to disable the firewall.. The Pinging should tell you if you can get to the PC…
