Oracle 9i, Oracle installation, SQL, SQL queries
hello guys I have recently started learning SQL and I am trying to install 9i (database or software where I can practice SQL quires). Long time ago I started learning SQL on that time it was personal oracle7 I installed and used to do my practice...but now I have heard that you can install 9i on WINDOWS XP as well I downloaded those 2 files from oracle.com but when I unpack them and started installation nothing happens..in other way when I directly open the (file means I don't save it on disk) it starts the installation but in the beginning it stuck on 99% and says *error in downloading library* and then there is a option if u can skip that problem I skipped and it asked me what do u want to install I chose first option (complete) it starts the process and stuck on 33% and then Installation wizard re-starts. There is one more link given on the same page and there u have only one file name 92010NT_CLT I downloaded it and tried to install and same thing that there is no response I will highly appreciate if anyone can help me out of this problem. thanks regards beside all that if any one can simoly tell me that where should i practice my sql?i mean which platform? if i install 9i then will it be posoble for me to practice my sql?

I think Oracle could be a good option for learning, and you will be able to practice SQL and much more, and the express edition can be downloaded and used free of charge. In the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) site you can find very helpful documents and tutorials . I would recommend to download the 10g Express Edition, which can be downloaded <a href="http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xewinsoft.html">here</a>. It is an "exe" file, and you don't need to download any additional software, unless you want to access your database from a remote machine (if so, you need to download the oracle client also).
