Oracle 8.1.7.4 connectivity

Oracle, Administration, Performance/Tuning, Installation/Upgrade

Recently We installed Oracle 8i (8.1.7.4) Server on a Machine running Windows 2000 Professional SP 4, but we're experiencing connectivity problems: 1 minute after the Listener started up it's not possible to connect to the database any more . At this point, if the listener service is restarted then we can connect to the database again for one minute. We installed and configured de database exactly the same way as we did on oher machine, which is going to be replaced by the new one, and on the old machine Oracle works Ok. The only diference is that the new machine's processor is a Pentium IV HT.

The connection is being made by an C++ application through Oracle Call Interface.

Tnanks for you help.

Have you checked the listener logs for errors? They should be in <oracle_home>/network/logs. Also, check your alert_log.
